Site to discuss how to identify people in images. Specifically, what metadata format should be used, what tags are needed, and where should they be stored? How do we get such a standard supported?

I e-mailed IPTC and got a response back from Michael Steidl, the managing director. He said "To assign metadata only to regions of a photo is already on our agenda but I feel the most challenging issue is to implement this into the XMP technology (this XML in the header) as this is developed by Adobe. But let's see.
Btw: this is part of our Photo Metadata Roadmap, check it out in full at
www.iptc.org/photometadata". I didn't see this specifically mentioned at that web site, but I'm glad to hear they're already working on it.
